Lindfield Rugby Club was established in 1919 by soldiers returning from the first world war. Since its inception, Lindfield Rugby has maintained the tradition bestowed on it by its founders, notably the Club’s colours of Sky blue and white.

Vision
Lindfield Junior Rugby Club's focus is participation with the goal that every player enjoys their rugby, in a safe environment, at a level appropriate to their skills and physical capabilities. We aim to field teams to cater for all participants, from Representative players to those that want to have a run in the park with their mates. Our club will provide training and development opportunities to improve and develop the skills of all participants.

Playing with LJRC
We welcome players of all abilities and gender from Under 5s through to the Opens (U18).

Selection
In Minis from Under 5s to Under 9s, players and teams are not graded.

U5s participate in fun based skill development sessions.

U6-U7 play a modified touch based game (no tackle).

U8-U9 play a modified game with the introduction of tackling.

In Under 10s to Opens, players are graded on their ability to demonstrate the basic skills of the game, skills necessary for the particular position selected, their ability to participate in a team environment and potential for future development.

U10-U11 play 12 a side games.

U12 to Opens play 15 a side Rugby in accordance with the ARU U19 modified Rules.

Team Grading
In under 10’s to Opens, the club will assess each team on its merits and request appropriate grading in the Sydney Junior Rugby Union (SJRU) competition. The objective is a grade where players enjoy their rugby and are competitive. We don't focus on a team in every A grade nor measure success by the number of grand final wins. We believe players should play at a standard where they are appropriately challenged and provided with an opportunity to demonstrate and develop their skills.

Playing time
LJRC firmly encourages equal game time for all players in a squad.  The club recognises at certain times, Coaches and Managers may wish to field the strongest side possible. Where this is done, team management will consult with the players and parents with game time expectations understood and agreed to before game day.

The Lindfield tradition
"Building friendships, skills and values for life."
